Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Dip Wind Direction: SSW Wind Stength: 15-16 Surf / Sea State: bumpy Air Temperature: 15 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: cloudy Max Speed: 24.6 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 25.6 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Set off for 11a, at the Dip and the rain almost made me turn back, but the
thought of unhooking the trailer persuaded me to carry on. At the Dip it
was pouring with rain. Pete (of Sally) was sheltering in his van so Ian I
peered through the windscreen at the rain until Mark joined us. After about
40 minutes the rain stopped. It looked 7-8m but Pete was going well on 5.7m
so I rigged 6m which was perfect. I had 2 hours of blasting; the sea was
quite bumpy but some nice rollers. It took a while to get used to the bumpy
sea but was OK then. The wind even kept up when Mak "windkilling Jonah"
turned up. I tried sailing off the spit but whilst smoother the sea was
actually bigger off the Dip. After about 2 hours the clearing sky suggested
a change in the wind and it seemed to be weakening so I packed up. Ian and
Mark got at least another 20 mins and newbie Jon turned up with a mean
looking Sonic board. If it were less bumpy would have be 5*.
GPS kept dieing so may have sailed further.
